today the press came into the boeing facility and took pictures of the 787 dreamliner. this is the aircraft i was working on before i threw in the towel and moved back home. progress has been stagnant at best it seems, as the airplane is approaching two years in delays. the first airplane was originally supposed to fly last september, but who knows when it will get airborne now. you can fake lots of things in aerospace to fool the public and press, but actually getting a bird in the air takes talent; you can't fake first flight! this plane was built entirely on computers and has never been built let alone turned on and flown around. i wish them best of luck but the deck is stacked against them. the new materials it is being made out of are delaying the build process. it's noteworthy that the last airplane boeing built, the 777 was actually built on time. the first 777 was delivered on the exact day it was promised. huh. well, at least airbus was 2 years late in delivering their last new airplane.
by the way i used to sit down on the floor in this pic, i sat down on the floor on the left hand side of the plane. one little desk with my name on it in a sea of concrete. in the winter they would open and close the huge bay doors and you could see your breath. not to mention there are tons of pigeons that are too stupid to fly out the open doors that roam around the building and leave you little presents on your paperwork in the morning. but thats a moot point, i don't work there anymore! good luck boeing!

We have pigeons (Senior Engineers) in our office two, but their little presents are classified as quality control. Nothing like coming to work and finding out someone killed an entire red pencil when reviewing a design.
Society just doesn't understand pigeon hunting in the work place...
