so...saturday started and concluded my antelope season. i drew a tag for an area about 45 minutes from bozeman. dad and i tried to get on two ranches we had hunted on in the past, but their land was leased out for deer and elk season. after driving around the area we came upon two guys packing an antelope back to their truck. they had got a small buck out of a herd of about 150 antelope. after getting permission we tried to get within range. all of the antelope filed by walking or trotting at about 200 yards. i was trying to decide which one was the biggest. one of the first ones that walked by was the biggest, but i had already let him walk out of range when we had determined he should be shot. so...after following them around for a while we had another group of hunters run about half the herd right by us through a bottleneck at about 200 yards. the wind was howling and i didn't want to take a trotting shot, so off they went again. they ran into the back corner of the field and milled around for quite a while at about 300-400 yards. i had a nice rest on top of a rockpile looking down on the whole herd, but couldn't keep the crosshairs on a critter with the wind. finally they came to the near side of the field at 225 yards. one buck stood broadside long enough for me to shoot. he ran about 60 yards and piled up! he was quartering away slightly. i hit him far back on the entry, and too far forward on the exit. but...not a monster but he's dead and in the freezer!
right where he died, i shot from the rocks in the background

Way to go with the hunting success and semi-full freezer. I'm counting on some of that turning into your steak sandwiches soemtime in the future. And since I'm a 'pretty good cook' maybe you'll allow me to fix accompaniments? :)
Good work! medium sized antelope is better than no antelope!
