well i haven't been doing well at posting a blog lately. it's not that i am too busy, i am just too lazy! school has been going well, my semester is much less demanding than last fall. i have been getting trained on software lately at work. i hope to have all of my simulation models made by the end of this semester so i can start with my experiment come summer. so far this year i have been either hanging out with emily, fishing, or going to school. last weekend emily and i went up to helena to see my folks. i wasn't sick this time so i actually enjoyed myself. next weekend we are heading to sheridan to see emily's family and her gma.
as far as fishing is concerned i have been out four days so far this year. the first day was with joel and don on the saturday prior to martin luther king day. we floated on the lower madison with not much to show for it. i got one decent 16" rainbow... on MLK day joel and i floated again and had couldn't get any fish to show for it. not a very good weekend for catching things but the weather was nice and sunny. i did make it out on the lower madison again after that. had some time after class and got about an hour in. missed one really good fish and then fell in...getting water in your waders in february definitely cuts your day short.
today joel and i took the long drive up the upper madison below Quake lake. the river up there is only open for about 3 more weeks. it was 18 degrees and foggy when we got there but it was sunny and the fog soon burned off. it was a beautiful day with not a breeze and tons of sun. we ended up with three fish, one good brown at 18". naturally the camera batteries were dead so the only evidence we had was a pic on joel's cell phone. snow lined the banks and was up to our knees. that's been the fishing to date, much more to come as the weather and fishing improves. march and april should prove to be productive!
