Philly or bust...

We're going for Option B: Bust.
As neither Shaun nor myself has ever been to Philadelphia, we thought it might be a good idea for Shaun to head out there for a few days to get the lay of the land. The plan was to attempt to find us a place to live, get to know some of the friends, and get a feel for things. He flew out Tuesday, and I decided to spend some time with my family before our planned cross-country trek.
Since neither of us had been to what we thought was to be our future home, Shaun had no idea what to expect. A phrase I heard in one of our phone conversations: "I feel like I've landed on the moon!"
So, after much deliberation about even taking the job in the first place, we were back at square one. Things weren't feeling right, it didn't seem to be a good fit for us, and the situation just wasn't coming together. We deliberated some more...and came to the conclusion that if it doesn't feel right for a few days, it's not going to feel right for a few years.
On the upside, we'll get to have holidays with our families, Shaun can get his money's worth out of his fishing license (which doesn't expire until February...he was going to have to waste nearly 4 months of it!), and we get to stay in the beautiful west. The downside is we don't have a plan, house, or jobs.
No big deal.

Those kinds of decisions are hard. Speaking from experience.
